“Seek first His Kingdome and His righteousness “(Matthew 6:24-34)

“So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own”

 

A couple days ago, I read an article about why youth people leave the church when they become young Adults. It was really interesting. Because I thought the reason a young adult leave the church is that church is boring. Or they do not feel that it is really necessary to come to church because once they go in to college; they are any more under the parents. However, the reason was not that I expected. Form the research, People said that reason why they leave church is church that don’t tell or preach real gospel. The message is not strong at all. They teach not different way compare to the world view. They don’t tell about real Jesus Christ, most of pastors, or preachers, they just do sermon about how can we live well as a Christian. How can we prosper or make advance our life. Moreover, how can we improve our lives? Those are main issues even in post modern church.

 

After read this article from some web site, I was thinking a lot of thing. Actually, it was shocking for me. They said, they cannot feel any differences between the churches and the world’s teaching.

When church teaches mo more gospels, it means we have lost our identity. When we are not teaching about Jesus Christ’s death on the cross, and if we are not making people acknowledge that you are sinner, ironically people just leave our church. This is because, if we follow the world’s teaching, there are a lot of an amazing seminar about how we can we change our lives

 

If we read today’s verse 24, Jesus said, no one can serve two masters. One is Jesus Christ, the other is wealth.

People say the real success is wealth. There is no doubt if we ask people any one about what is success in our life. Mostly people say that the successful life is how much money we earn money.

We think the success in our lives is money or wealth, but Jesus certainly distinguishes God and wealth.

 

Jesus is not only talking about money. Wealth is representing the world view. Let’s take a time and deeply think about what the most is concerning things most. To be honest, it is going to be how we can get a better job that people envy or how can we earn a more income that you can proudly boast in front of people. What’s more, what about social position? Or you have to overcome your parent expectations because you cannot disregard your parent hard work as immigration life because of you.

Our relationship with people and as we are students, we worry about our school grade. I do because is connected with scholarship.

These are the concerning things. I am not saying that these are not important.

 

But, we should think deeply about what Jesus Christ teaching us from today’s text?

In verse 27, Jesus said” And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life? In Korean version, 누가 그 키를 한 자, 즉 Cm 를 더할 수 있느냐? By the way, I was really frustrated when I read about this message when as teen because my tall was not growing well that time. So I gave up.

 

And also, take a look verse 30, it says “But of God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you?

This verse is talking about our relationship with God. God is our father, and our relationship is better than grass of the field. Our quality of life is going to be determined by how much we trust God and depend on God.

 

However, I understand, we live in 21 century; so, we are not free from finance and needs and circumstances. In my case, when I look at my life, I definitely need next semester‘s tuition fee, how can I not worry about it?

 

Last Wednesday, when I was working at my pastime job at the cleaner, some guy suggested a network marketing business. I was saying I am not interested that because I don’t need to have a million dollar as you wish to have. But he was looking for some person who makes connection with Asian community. He was asking, you will have a great opportunity if you accept this business. He says you need money for your family and future.

 

 After I met him I thought about a lot of thing. First of all, I was impressed by his passion to earn money for his life. He was trying to get me in to his network marketing line. Second, I was thinking, people who do they are searching all the time, every moment in their lives the business partner, and they share their business very proudly in front of  people, it is like good news. However, what is good news as we are Christian? Do I have that passion to share gospel to the people? I thought that the passion of trying to share the gospel is not supposed to be less than that the guys trying to share their business.

 

Verse 32 says, our heavenly father knows our every need.

 

And we read today’s main verse, verse 33, says” But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will added to you.”

What Jesus is saying as we are Christian, and as we are children of God, we must ask different whishes and desire compare to non Christian. Like I said from the beginning, even though people ask their fame and wealth, or how they live well, but we absolutely have to have different desire.

Then, what is God’s righteousness?

 

Righteousness is the action that God loves. Righteousness is representing about God’s character to the people according to our calling that God has given to us.

Also, righteousness is defined that as comprehending about God’s real mind. What does God want the most?

That is as written in Revelation 7:9-10 “After this I look and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. 10 and they cried out in al our voice; “Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.”

 

God wants to revive his kingdom through our works. God has not called us to a life that just ask about how can we earn more money than others, how can we obtain higher position that people wishes.

What we have to remember is God called us higher purpose than we think and expect

If you believe that God is our father and God created us, also, our lives come from God, we should ask to ourselves deeply what we should request from God according to Jesus’ teaching.
